To me A Scanner Darkly is specifically about drug addiction, and Infinite Jest is about addiction in general. Yes, Wallace specifically addresses the drug user state of mind(imo in much greater and more accurate detail than Scanner), but the book as a whole is about so much more than mere drug addiction.
