30 Rock? Took some flak in season 4 and maybe 5 but 7 was one of the best comedy seasons I've ever seen.

I'm yet to start watching Enlightened (it's next on the list, I swear), but so far Louie is the only "comedy" to make me cry.

And everyone knows it's IMPOSSIBLE to like two different shows.

SCORE

Next time: Apparently the ex-bassist of an obscure noise punk band doesn't care for "Copacabana" by Barry Manilow.

It probably is. I don't think they really take into account the power of syndication.

@avclub-c701a997d9bef627835b036efb4eca63:disqus I can't think of another show where I've had such strong feelings about individual episodes, never mind seasons. I know it's a bit of a cliché but I'm jealous that you still have all of it to watch (and form your own opinions on).

I think Community inspires these differing opinions more than maybe any other show. Paradigms of Human Memory is my absolute favourite episode, and I wouldn't include Remedial Chaos Theory in my top 10. Opinions!

It had its moments (the best thing Community could do right now is get John Oliver back) but I thought it was a pretty weak way to end the season compared to what's around it. Obviously any Community episode is only "weak" comparatively and there's always something to enjoy in every ep. I just found less to enjoy in

The finale, Basic Genealogy (possibly the weakest episode the show's ever done), Football, Feminism and You and a couple of episodes like Advanced Criminal Law and The Art of Discourse that have some very funny moments but don't work as a whole as well as most episodes. It also suffers IMO from a lack of real standout

I saw it recently for the first time since I was about 13 and I'd never realised how great it is.

Eh, well I think I'm probably part of the majority who thinks season 2 is the best. I'd say 1 was the weakest (still hardly an insult) but 3 is very inconsistent so they're probably equal. Season 1 was consistently very funny but I don't think it produced many classic episodes.

I suspect we'll see mostly option 1 for the first half of the season but I'm fairly confident that once they get over that hump (which they might have behind the scenes already for all we know) and stop forcibly thinking about being in charge of Community we'll start to see a show that's less hung up on trying to be

I love the Jack Black episode! I think it shows there are lots of different opinions within the fanbase (I'm not huge on Remedial Chaos Theory or Mixology Certification either) and in fact looking through the episodes now season 2 had Competitive Wine Tasting, so it doesn't get off scot free. As for "how far this

The pilot wasn't great. And there's been more than one episode in both seasons 1 and 3 worse than the couple we've had in S4 so far.

Vulture made an interesting point about the first episodes of season 4 in their recap of this episode (which is odd because their TV recaps usually suck); breathing and walking, for example, are things we do naturally, without thinking, all the time, but if someone were to tell you to "breath normally" or "walk

In what way can you tell after 2 decent episodes of a season with new showrunners that a show has jumped the shark? 30 Rock had one entire shaky season and managed to come back, Community's had 2 meh episodes.

To me Season 3 seemed like it alternated between A+ classics and duds, I'd definitely say it's the most inconsistent of the first 3. Both season 4 episodes have been somewhere in the middle.
