I'm very late to the party on this one but I have to point out something. Peter Greene may not be the biggest of stars, but he's had enough high profile credits that he deserves a better description than "a Peter Weller lookalike." It's kind of insulting.

So it's cool that a new Criterion is out, but why is there no mention of the edition and what it offers? It's just a standard review of the movie that could have been written decades ago.

Please check your spelling. The Guthrie is a repertory theater not a "reparatory" theatre.

Most of the comments here only underscore how noone has seen this movie. I missed it in the theater. Saw it on Netflix. Everything written above is true. It's great. And it's one of Carrey's finest performances. If you can't get past the title you're probably too stupid to enjoy the film.

The person I immediately thought of here is Andie MacDowell. The only one I really thought she was perfect in was Sex, Lies, and Videotape. But she's in a number of films in subsequent years that I still think are brilliant but would likely be better with someone else. There's Four Weddings and a Funeral and Short
