I'm torn, it's already ridiculous that it was going to be a two parter, but if it can give a sense of the history and build-up to the reemergence of Sauron in Lord of the Rings that his trilogy was completely missing I might be OK with it.

Yeah, the vast majority of photography on the entire trilogy occurred before Fellowship of The Ring was released. Now I agree with you that FOTR is far and away superior to the other 2, but your premises is BS.

That really pissed me off because he seemed like the perfect fit to elevate that fucking book, which has an intriguing premise and terrible writing. He has already proved adept at fantastical elements and uncomfortable drama in his past movies, it should have been natural & yet, he made the women's book club layup

Other than having some longer tracks, it's not really varied compared with their previous output. But full disclosure, I only made it about 3/4 of the way through so far. Gaslight Anthem's always been a band that I pick out a number of songs on their albums and blast from time to time, but they've never made an LP I

Also, I preferred the one with Kostner's voiceover.

$160m is not 'depressed box office climate', it's likely slightly lower than it would have done, but not by a ton and the word of mouth will carry this very far. We will then go into a 'depression' because of the time of year it is, it'll be November before real big movies come out again.

People always feel the need to turn things into comparisons and competitions, all three of this summer's superheroes movies were huge successes for me & all do very different things (other than make me gape and smile like an idiot in the theater in amazement).

I disagree, I was surprised, but not only does this trump TDK in scope, it trumps it in emotion and ambition. TDK's influences of wanting to be a Heat/Godfather crime saga in Gotham were worn on it's sleeve; this film was more of its own thing & I didn't find it to be a ROTJ recycling but a way for the series to come

Thank you for poiting out the lunacy of this argument, on top of already wanting to be sick any time I saw comments trying to use this as an opportunity to pontificate about gun laws, this idea kept coming up & making me want to pull my hair out. The man set off tear gas, was wearing body armor & a helmet and using an

That was my initial reaction on Friday morning, but yeah, you can't let things like this change your life. Though I will say there were times when the violence & shooting during the movie woke me up to where I was sitting & its implications which was occasionally disconcerting.

I enjoyed what it was leading up to, the nod toward him being the Robin like character, but I would have preferred they hadn't tipped that as his name in the last second.

So did Chris Nolan ghost direct this while pretending to be Terrence Malick? Because that's what I'm getting from this trailer. Heck, even not naming the character by his real moniker in the title is like The Dark Knight.

This is based on a real life incident, & is the climax of the script, how can they change it? A delay is easily warranted and would have been the appropriate response, like when Phone Booth was about to come out around the time of the Beltway sniper incidents.
