Thank you to the commenters who suggested that I replace "How Did This Get Made?" with "We Hate Movies".  I'm very happy with the switch, even if the people on my train think I'm insane after hearing me guffaw through the recent episode about The Skulls.

Dibs on "Try not to suck any dick on your way through the parking lot!" being the quote under my avatar in the inevitable AV Club yearbook.

Sure, you could watch the NBA playoffs or college softball instead of the shattering of children’s dreams, but why?

And also, the lesson that no matter what your place in the world, there's always someone above you making your life hell, and always someone below you that you're making life hell for.

I doubt I'll be able to express this as articulately as I'd hope, but I only indulge in haterism when the thing I'm railing against is sucking up all the cultural air in the room, and I feel like it's unworthy of our attention as a society.  That is to say, I can happily keep a lid on my dislike of the judges on

Yes, yes, yes.  Sunshine is like two completely different movies, stitched together at the two-thirds mark.  It starts off with such promise and, then….that.

I liked it, but I will say that people should know it's really about Ewan McGregor's character and his relationships.  Christopher Plummer deserved all the praise he got, but the marketing suggested that he's the main focus of the movie, and he's not.

An excellent review.  And not just because I loathe Gabe as much as you do.  Honestly, I'm not even sure if I dislike Gabe because he's Eric Balfour, or I dislike Eric Balfour because he's Gabe.

I clearly have to stop getting recommendations from ecstatic reviews/comments on the internet, because then my expectations are built up, and I wind up disappointed in something I probably would have enjoyed if it hadn't been hyped so much.  I wrapped up both The Fantastic Mr. Fox and Terriers, and neither of them
