I like True Blood, too. It makes me laugh, so I was surprised to see it nominated in the drama category. And I agree that Paquin is terrible.

My mom schlepped back so much Christmas stuff from our tour of duty in Germany that we really have no need to go back. She bought one of everything. The wives' club took bus trips to the various markets, during the week while the kids were in school (so I never got to drink any Gluhwein). I have to admit, though,

We took the kids to see Santa at the mall this weekend. My son (age 4 and not wearing airplane goggles, unfortunately) approached a girl standing in line in front of us and said "I like Santa".

As the mother of a tween, I too became aware of the existence of Fred via his guest spot on iCarly. My daughter laughed her fool ass off at the sped up antics and chipmunk voice. If I gave her the chance, I'm sure she would happily spend my hard earned money to see him in a movie.

I could . . . but I don't.

Phoenix's and the Yeah Yeah Yeah's albums are still on my interlibrary loan request list. The public library gives me three whole weeks to decide if I like an album enough to buy it. I know not all library systems have great music collections, but this is a great way to conserve cash without illegal downloading.

I got goosebumps when she sang the first line of Maybe Sparrow. I saw her at a fancier theater, and it did make us feel that we should sit quietly and listen. I spent a serious amount of energy trying not to sing along, cuz I'm pretty sure the guy sitting next to me didn't pay good money to put up with that.

I love her, and I fear the inevitable hipster backlash if she picks up a Grammy.

I read some books on my own between WUiB selections and it wasn't nearly as much fun. Just keep telling me what to read, and I'll keep coming back.

@Jorge: Ha! When trying to explain Wildwood to midwesterners I say "It's like the Wisconsin Dells, but at the beach". And since I earlier referred to Wildwood as the scariest place on earth, I should add that The Dells are in second place, only because midwesterners are generally kinder people.

I wonder if Muldrow would have made it to Hokkaido had he been 6 feet tall with blond hair . . .

Cape May is lovely. Wildwood, just a couple miles north, is the scariest goddamn place I've ever been in my well-travelled life.

Doh!

The fact that he would be immediately recognized as an enemy on sight by the Japanese population was what lead most of us to initially excuse/accept many of his killings. The war backdrop made us more tolerant of that kind of behavior, thus making the story more complex. I suppose we could have read a book about a

Well, I don't think this woman is under any obligation to make you a friggin' tuna sandwich, Stacy, but I'll agree that her ability to derive profound meaning from The Killers lyrics is pretty ridiculous. Don't let this put you off of having babies and mortgages, honey. I have both and still find The Killers lyrics

Or, Audrey called and she wants her hair back.

I agree. NPR has their best of the decade feature up now, too, and they also chose Castaways and Cutouts. I just don't get it.

I loved Popless, Noel. And I agree Neon Bible is better than Funeral.

Electric Version
Yeah, that's my favorite New Pornographers album, too.

Chutes Too Narrow is still in heavy rotation at my house. Love that album.
