If your parenthetical reference to 4 women isn't paying homage to Lana's status as a quadroon, then shame on you.  If it is, props on the subtlety.

Archer has always paid homage to Reed's other work, but I got an intense Frisky Dingo vibe from this episode more than any other previous one, for exactly the reason you point out: the cartoonishness of it all.  Prior to this episode, it felt like the plots and the gags were in a good equilibrium.  This episode felt

Along those same lines, Ironsides' delivery of "No one care, Figgis. You're only invited to round out the numbers," deserves a nod.  Everyone else was playing over the top stereotypes, but Ray was committed to the character . . . well after the cop left.

I'd still categorize Louis as comedy, but of a very different sort.  I have no idea how to analyze why Archer fans seem to be Louis fans for that very reason, other than to speculate that they might both tap into a sense of humor that craves something out of the mainstream.
