That was essentially why he left the industry. He claims that the last straw was when he worked on project for Disney that was turning out better than he could have imagined, only to have the whole thing scrapped midway.

It's been great hearing Bobscratch on the podcast circuit lately. He's a funny, insightful guy with a colorful history, and gels well with the various hosts and formats. (I still feel his Nerdist ep was one of the 10 best)

Honestly felt this week's DLM was great. Normally I appreciate the games as a way of grounding the show if the banter becomes too digressive, but the guests and conversation were particularly lively this week. Would gladly trade another round of Leonard Maltin to hear more about Planet of the Chicks.

My old screenwriting teacher wrote that film. To his credit, he was always pretty frank about the miserable experience getting it made and why it turned out so poor. Nothing beats getting a lecture from grizzled, battered industry vets.

"That is
the developing 'problem' with The Simpsons. Too many jokes
unrelated to plot development. No matter how funny these jokes are,
they disrupt the flow of events that draw you into the show. And
when they're not funny (like the rake incident), ouch!"

Her onscreen mate Thewlis led the way in Naked.

I call it a draw. The Moffat episodes are without doubt the highlights of the Davies era, but I think he's problematic as an overall "Who" show runner. In particular I feel he has a tendency to solve story problems by loading up on paradoxes, have the Doctor explain things really quickly, and hoping we can't keep up.

Agree that the books weren't as big as the Harry Potters at the time of that film's release, but the Hunger Games have a much wider fan-base than the Twilight books did. It helps that it has a much more tantalizing and cinematic premise than either of those franchises.

Alien3: C
Se7en: A-The Game: B+ (haven't seen in far too long, though)
Fight Club: A
Panic Room: C
Zodiac: A+
Benjamin Button: B-
The Social Network: B+ (Maybe an A if I'm feeling good)
Dragon Tattoo: A-

But as you mention above, it's such an odd and jarring departure from the rest of the film - that's why it doesn't work.

Great call. Such a stylish, exciting trailer. Movie itself aged like milk.

Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. Not a bad movie, and probably deserving of a rewatch at some point, but that trailer set my expectations far too high.

1. Racing in the Street (and really anything off the first side of Darkness)
2. Thunder Road
3. Out In The Street
4. Highway Patrolman
5. Growin' Up
