I liked the premise of Aaron's first flashback episode: that he was a success in the pre-blackout world, but utterly lacking in the skills necessary to be of use to anyone in the post-blackout one. I think it's believable that a man who made his living using his mind would lack the kind of 'alpha male' qualities
