I never thought the actress was bad.As you say it was more the writing. It seeemed unlikely for Luke to have a secret daughter living so close by and also a bit convenient that she also happened to be a scientific genius.

I would have missed John Oliver nearer the start of the podcast but I've seen Andy live a few times now and I think his stuff has become stronger and more original compared to a few years ago. His Satirist for Hire show I saw in Soho last year is my favourite comedy gig I've ever been to.

The Bugle was particularly strong this week with some funny stuff on Brexit, Trump and why the start of 2017 shouldn't make us more hopeful.

In fairness, there's millions of people probably using it for things like sports, comedy and music news. If you like a niche sport like gymnastics, it's good. Especially when people like Simone Biles or Epke Zonderland post a new move they are training.

I feel like a world where Trump isn't fit to be on Twitter but still somehow is President-Elect sums up where we are as a species.

I don't know why but I have this strange feeling Biden would have been able to counter Trump in a way Bernie couldn't.

It bugged me when they would hit on an interesting plot point or two early in a season, then resolve them quickly in favour of shit like adding nineteen more layers to the conspiracy or some doing come CTU subplot with a bunch of characters no-one cared about.

I'm protesting the fact Yvonne Strahovski wasn't cast in it by not watching it. Instead she's playing a part she's probably ten or twenty years too young for because apparently there are no forty or fifty something actresses who would have been really good at making you feel bad for someone unlikeable.

I love 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. Although the maths puzzles make me a bit sad because I used to be able to solve them but now I can't times 75 for shit.

I never got into smoked salmon so the latter, I suppose :-) Fingers crossed the year turns out better than the signs would indicate.
