RIP Carrie Fisher.

When someone is being "viciously attacked" in this situation it's usually the other way round and it's the woman being called all kinds of names for having the nerve not to fancy anyone who smiles at her but whatever ;-)

For very obscure reasons involving some old Buffy Wildfeed spoiler reviews I used to read, I'm now picturing the villains yelling "Windex makes it shine!" as they advance on the Doctor ;-)

She sounded a bit old-timey but then so was her character (a journalist who can afford a nice New York apartment and a nanny? Really?)

Personally I really enjoyed S9 for the most part but it would have been immeasurably better if Moff could have just left Clara dead and explored the fallout from that instead of creating this dopey get out clause where you end up thinking about the mayhem Clara/Me might end up causing with a TARDIS.

I'd love a multi-companion thing where the two/three companions aren't dating/married/related and maybe have a slightly more antagonistic thing going on.

That's one of my favourite episodes of The Prisoner. I love that scene you mention and also the funky party music at the start of dream C :-)

Fair enough and it's definitely a YMMV thing but to me it felt like Clara went from being a total cypher/defined mostly by her relationship to the Doctor to being defined mostly by her relationship with Danny. That said I didn't dislike Danny and I was sorry when he was killed off. Although I suppose Moff needed to do

The only problem with S8 as the time when Clara has a story and a character is that 95% of it is in relation to Danny Pink.

Crucially though, Martha didn't stick around pining in silence for the next nineteen years :-)

Personally I was pleased Moff kept the plot relatively straightforward this year because my family had provided a lot of booze and I probably would have struggled to follow along by the time I got to watch this ;-)

I thought this was fun and the actors playing Grant and Lucy did well to make their slight characters quite fun and sweet. I thought Capaldi was good but I'm tired of watching the Doctor mourning for companions/River in these between companions episodes. They need to find a new character beat for the Doctor when he's

Get over to the Guardian comments quick, you'll fit right in ;-p

I think that applies to the old series as well. Two of my big favourites are "The Deadly Assassin" and "The Caves of Androzani". Assassin has no companion and Androzani has the Doctor almost totally in over his head nearly getting himself and Peri killed.

My message to Moff at this point is no more silently suffering in love men. I'm referring to these sensitive men who are in love with a "friend" for years and years and it seems to be implied that the woman is unkind for not noticing/using him a bit.

Thanks, the AV Club, happy holidays to you too :-)

No she sounds like someone with trust issues, which is why the relationship is probably doomed.

"So the boyfriend, who knows how freaked out his girlfriend gets whenever
this sexy intern comes up, takes the understandable tactic of just not
mentioning her, even though they still chat and occasionally see each
other."

Heh ;-)

That's good.
