I think you've boiled down the average viewer's reaction of liking it okay. The show is okay, but it seems like it could be so much more. It has become as predictable as many other sitcoms, and it didn't start out that way.

I checked out as well, but what I managed to get through (up to the Dermott bit)was, I thought, horrible. This has been a pretty good season, and the cast is very likable, and maybe I gave up too soon on this particular episode, but I was cringing more than laughing and just couldn't take it anymore. Simply awful.
