I'm definitely team Breaking Bad I love Mad Men I really do but I tend to find a lot of themes and style in Mad Men to be lifted from The Sopranos. Hell even entire episodes like that when were Don crashes his car is a pale imitator of Irregular Around The Margins.
"The Johnny Walker wisdom running high." I quote whenever I get the chance which is all the time.
I've seen him live twice…those songs are still his own no matter what people say.
It's the only song of his I absolutely can't stand.
Well that was fucking abysmal, I love Leonard Cohen to death and I also think people can do lovely covers of his songs but that was a load of shite. Mumbling like you're aggressively shy does not constitute singing.
Tom Waits has made it very hard for me to get into new singers. I started listening when I was 14 or 15 and he quickly led to Nick Cave, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. However now whenever I try a new band I need something going on musically, vocally or lyrically and I find most music just isn't weird enough for me.
Bowie was one of my first music loves, I obsessed over him during my teens and he is still very important to me. So expectations were sky high. Then I heard the stream and he blew my expectations away I am utterly in love with this thing. I won't listen to it again until I have the shiny LP in my hands.
I don't know if there's a show I've soured on faster than Community. I enjoyed season 1 but thought it was certainly rocky. I was going through a re-watch recently and got to season 2 and felt this ugly feeling of having to sludge through the rest of the show.
Well I'm convinced, everyone is comparing it to my favourite shows and those who don't have compared it to my favourite shows. Starting episode one now!
I am rewatching the show now so I dunno maybe my opinion will change, I do agree with you though that season 4 has been pretty good so far and it actually does not suffer from their troubled starts. Very good sign.
As someone who just recently caught up on Community I can confirm their starts are usually trash. Season 1 took like 9 episodes to get started which is fine, however season 2's first episodes almost made me bail on the show. (The lawyer episode is my personal least favourite.) Season 3 also had an atrocious start with…
God, this episode was so amazing then after it was over iTunes decided I should listen to "Keep me in your heart" in case there wasn't enough emotional devastation.
