I think a rewatch is
in order. To me this was amongst my favorite episodes of the season (I'm in the States, but caught up with the UK pace). This episode felt like a Doctor Lite episode, but, obviously, with the Doctor. I loved how it played with the characters, fleshed everyone out, gave some much needed pain

Totally. Such a brilliant episode. Love the exchange between the slutty mother and feminist daughter.

Then again I am watching WILD AT HEART right now so that might be part of it…

That actually sounds pretty nightmarish.

Apologies: nix the "the" before "his grandfather's" and "their are several" should obviously be "there are several."

Whedon Connection
I was actually thinking that this episode reminded me an awful lot of "Pangs" the Thanksgiving episode in season 4 of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER even before Noel pointed out the Whedon connection. In it, Buffy works her damndest to pull off the perfect Thanksgiving for her friends. The episode is

Excellent point, Dwide. The AV Club list book is amongst the three books that I include on my, quite literal, bathroom shelf of books. The other two are: George Carlin's AN ORGY OF GEORGE (all three of his books in one tome) and the short stories of Roald Dahl. All three are great books, mind you. Their physical

Oh snap! You are right, I am wrong. Self-flagellation shall occur.

I kind of
Liked Zack. I don't know who the actor is, but I thought his delivery was spot-on with each and every line. He was just the right amount of stupid and sweet. I understood (as best a straight man can) why Penny would go for him. Actually this episode finally addressed a big complaint about the show: what

I think water = fluidity. In the Angels two-parter The Doctor discovered that time could be rewritten, changed, that it isn't set it stone. It stands a metaphor similar to Moffat's previous "timey-wimey bits" he set up in "Blink."

Annie
I found it a little odd that Jeff would start making out with Annie. Yeah they simmered with sexual tension in the debate episode, but for the past few weeks Jeff has taken more of a fatherly concern towards her (the moment where he chastises Jack Black for making suggestive comments about her springs to mind).

Agreed. This show is a worthy successor to shows like SPACED, but with more heart. Really glad I didn't miss out on this one.

Just finished watching the show. I am so fucking on board it is ridiculous.

Oh my the colors
I've said this on a previous episode comments thread, but part of what I love about Big Bang's sets (seemingly all of non-work ones—the apartments, the comic book store) make the best use of technicolor and sharp HD contrasts on television. I liked the way the set dressers introduced the pre-Leonard

I think the Marshall's subtle line "I wanted to see Avatar again" was meant to invoke the idea that a lot of people didn't like Avatar and yet is the highest grossing movie ever. THE WEDDING BRIDE (movie) felt a lot of like Avatar with one-dimensional characters and utterly predictable plot, albeit set against a

Moffat
rocks.

Please forgive the grammar mistakes above. I've had a long day.

Yeah, B+ is about right
Although, officially, I went slightly lower and gave it a B. It is a good episode but I kind of felt let down by it. I loved the pacing, writing, and acting in the first half. Up until Sheldon told Leonard that he had had dinner with Penny, this episode was on track to being a solid A. I

I long for the day they ditch the "Raj can't talk to women" gag. I'm so bored of it and it severely inhibits the actor who plays Raj (can't remember his name) in creating a more fleshed out character.

C+/B-
I basically entirely agree with Todd on this review. I will watch the next episode and the next because it hits all the sweet spots.
