I feel like the studios could minimize risk and maximize profit if they just combine every ill-conceived reboot on their schedules into one six-hour Grindhouse style monstrosity. They're only going to churn out about five minutes of good material for any one character anyway.

I will only see this movie if it's called "Terminator vs. Highlander".

Holmes has a passing appearance in "A Night in the Lonesome October" by Roger Zelazny.  So does practically everyone else on the most-adapted character top ten list.
