I've seen it twice and any story problems (I mean, I'm not stupid, I see 'em there) just weren't a big enough deal to stop me from enjoying the mythology and the beautiful set designs and action.

I think this reaction is probably completely normal. I wouldn't have any real interest in following what someone else did with my creation, you have to divorce yourself from it I think.
