We have to announce that there will be no Father Ted TV Club Classic reviews.
*Audiences gasps and chatters*
Fuckin' hell!

Add a dab of lavender to milk; leave town with an orange, and pretend you're laughing at it.

I think it's from the same episode but I like to use 'He certainly was the villain of the piece'.

No the reviews would just descend in to thinly veiled insults about the Greeks.

"More than tolerable"

"The audience applauded"

It was a good show and had promise for a second series with an interesting plot to follow on from but I think I read somewhere that the BBC cancelled it because they wanted Alan Davies to spend more of his time doing QI.

Ooh! Four! I mean "Five!" I mean "Fire!"

I can't go to jail, Roy! They'll rape the flip out of me!

These first two episodes also highlight the season’s weakest element: shouting, would-be motivational-speaker boss Denholm. I know Christopher Morris is a Linehan favorite, but neither he nor the character really gel with the rest of the show…..Why are you giving me the secret signal to shut up?

Team! Team, team, team, team, team! I even love saying the word "team"! You probably think that's a picture of my family. Uh uh. It's the A-Team!

That not much happens in the first episode works well I think. The problem with most pilots is they try to introduce the characters, setting and also have a narrative. Just having a concise introduction of the characters and how they meet usually works well. Linehan is quite good at these kinds of concise

The first two seasons do have overarching plots the new road and nose bleed epidemic respectively and they've covered sketch shows before so I don't see them having any problems.
Edit: Even though TLOG has catchphrase characters like Little Britain they get some pretty good character development over the series.

I would of made the description 'British sitcom about the social and work lives of an IT department run by a dynamic go-getter, a genius and a man from Ireland'.

@avclub-fa6fdc1bb56715a0e468248020a12fa3:disqus I hate this idea that when a piece of TV is considered high culture like Alexanderplatz, The Kingdom, Decalogue etc that it's now regarded as cinema, it's like saying that these kind of works can't be made in this medium so we'll reclass what it is so to still be snobby

In Sweden he is known as the Norwegian Chef.

We should celebrate this TV Club Classic with a big girls' night out!

Now let's all have a cool glass of turnip juice.

I thought the head cases were limited editions of the set or some such promotional advertisement. In the shops it 'seemed like they were first the plastic head sets and then after a while they would start to sell the cardboard cases.

'My little piranha fish'
