I have to say that Dr Strangelove wouldn't be nearly as good a film with that ending and hope it was a creative decision by Kubrick.
One of the best part of the ending is that it doesn't suggest you just instantly get over a gambling addiction like a lot of sitcoms and Marge has to get help. There's even a refference to her problem in Bart the Fink.

So it's more of procedural than mystery? Probably won't bother then.
As Elementary is debuting on non-cable Australian TV is it any good? From the promos it doesn't get me very excited.

I wouldn't consider most of those spoof movies as they do parody a particular genre or movie but as you said aren't built around multiple parodies of movies. I would consider these parodies not spoof movies.

I was suprised when I moved out of the country that it was the city bogans listened to Triple J because country bogans call those who listen to Triple J as hipsters. They are literally a different class of bogan.
