Wow, this was a very good critical analysis. I loved how you linked in the cereals at the end to really drive home your compairisons of the print version of Garfield and the T.V version of Garfield.
I can agree with that. I'll let Rick and Morty have their spot in the light because it is worth noting the show for the continued breaths of fresh air coming from CN.
I'm sorry, but to have Adventure Time on the list and not have Regular Show is just a gross oversight; last season of Adventure Time is pure gold, but this season is directionless and retreading its steps. Regular Show on the other hand has steadily taken its characters and built an amazing dynamic between the cast…
I call shenanigans on the departure of tone. Trippy animation is a staple in animation history, and this wasn't even the first time The Simpsons has indulged in it: Bart Gets Hit by a Car with Bart and Mr. Burns telling their versions of the events, or even when Mr. Burns is high on ether and sees the Dough Boy in…
Do you even like The Simpsons? I mean if you don't like this episode which has all the elements of great simpsons episodes, and a a few elemnts that allows it to stand apart from those episodes (which is an element of great Simpsons episodes). There are worse episodes than this one, like Weekend at Burnsie's, that…
"what should I do? Should I meditate, should I get red of all my possessions?"
Bart: "So then I says to Mabel, I says"
Homer: "Hi Kids."
Bart: "I'll finish this later, Hi Dad.
Homer: "where is your mother?
Lisa: "Out back"
Bart: "So anyways, I says to Mabel I says.
Ralph was such a gem of a character in the early days of The Simpsons. He was stupid, but he wasn't obnoxious. There was a really heart in everything he did that endeared him to the fans.
"what should I do? Should I meditate, should I get rid of all my possessions?"
so true for many episodes of this show. Sound design is something that most people don't pay attention to, but it adds so much.
The big difference from this headtrip episode and the others is they still felt the need to have a tightly wrapped story around the trippy parts. Now they make that the center piece and feel that a subpar story is justified because they already have something else good in that episode.
Looks like my hopes of another South Park Christmas episode have been shattered again thanks to this being a two parter.
Bam!
Why wouldn't there be another season of Cosmos? It was received, it had the rare internet buzz, it was well made, and I believe it had the viewers.
This episode is easily the best episode in a long time, since Finn got his arm ripped off. However, once again, I'm concerned with the direction this show is taking in its approach to story telling. With the rebirth of Prismo and the regrowth of Finn's arm the show has now re-established the statuesque on two major…
Two episodes a week?
I'm so glad I was too young to get into music in the 90's. Now I can objectively go back and listen to only the good stuff. DMB has never come up.
Regular Show has been insane, I can't believe that A.V Club stopped reviewing it as soon as it upped its game. The Rigby episode where he put the flatscreen up was so touching. I didn't think that the journey for Rigleen would be so long and so well done.
I'll share a few of my theories. The way I see it is that the show was hit with many different different challenges as it aged. It started retelling stories with lesser effect, the staff behind the scenes was moving on, The Simpsons as a whole had seeped in the western culture to the point of being a foundation, the…
