Luckily for him, he doesn't seem too preoccupied with needing to be viewed as an artist*. And if that means we keep getting entertaining-as-hell slice of life movies about people from Texas, then I am in.

Really anything T1000 in that movie qualifies. The head-exploding from shotgun outside the elevator door (a pillow was used for this, I think?), all the times the liquid congeals, and not to mention just the insanity of the truck going off the overpass.

I think it's similar to the way that foreign movies and documentaries simply aren't often recognized in the "regular movie" categories like director, editor, etc.

Absolutely. It's more impressive in his latter movies, I feel like, since he's aged and had children and doubtlessly looks at the world through different eyes, yet still so (seemingly) effortlessly captures the way kids just on the cusp of adulthood feel invincible, in their bodies and their thoughts.

I've seen many of the Oscar movies this year, and Everybody Wants Some!! was easily the best time I had at the theater. He's been getting love for the latter Before movies and Boyhood, so it's not fair to say he's underrated or unrecognized, but I do think Linklater's inherent talent with organic dialogue is often

It could be have been (and still might) be made into a massive gut-punch. I know nothing about the Legion character in terms of X-Men canon, but that seems like a kind of typical catalyst for future outlook/actions, a la Vesper in Casino Royale.

It's cold in Fargo!

Right, if you stumbled into that movie expecting something remotely resembling a popcorn flick, then that is 100% on you and not the movie.

Upstream Color. It's certainly not a traditional romance / courtship, but the scenes of them arguing about blurred and stolen memories, the despair they feel when apart and even (or especially) the scenes of them in their "other" bodies…it's all very visceral. What a gorgeous and primal movie.

mike d enjoys this movie, you called it shallow, therefore to salvage his movie cred he fires back that you must only like space spectacles. it is a transparent and sad reply.

His is more the 3 A.M., public access type ranting.

Yes they do?

He's a Jason Reitman for crime movies.

Patrick Wilson was also Nite Owl II

I didn't realize one person getting fewer than 30 retweets constituted "the internet".

Ci Ci your way out of this conversation.

I haven't, though I do remember hearing about it. I like how, for the most part, stuntmen/martial artists/advisers seem very generous with their time for one another's projects and it's more of a brotherhood of reciprocation than standard Hollywood top rung / bottom rung hierarchies.

That's a wonderful class act. He really does seem like a cool guy who appreciates he's been dealt a good hand in life - looks, athleticism, charisma - and appreciates those who help him along the way.

All Day has some fantastic ones which are also great for exercising or just general rowdiness. "Make Me Wanna" springs to mind.

Meg Ryan.
