I was thinking about Interpol as well. Does anybody still listen to their records? I think I have Turn On the Bright Lights on my hard drive but I don't remember the last time I played it. The Walkmen, on the other hand, get played a lot.

I've always classified RH as prog rock ("prog" as in "prognosticate"). They seem to have a sense of what's ahead. I just hope "The Amazing Sounds of Orgy" doesn't come true. Frightening stuff: http://youtu.be/j5LT9X9F-YM

Is it wrong that I want to digitally stimulate Maggie Gyllenhaal until orgasm? Seriously, I'm asking.
Fist of Legend is A) awesome and 2) featured prominently in the documentary. Definitely Jet Li's best fighting.
Your ears are fucked if you think Best Coast and Beach House sound similar at all.
I had a similar experience. Got into them with Devotion (which I listened to every night for a year) and then when Teen Dream came out I just didn't connect with it, for whatever reason. Which is a shame, because I revisited the record after Bloom leaked and realized how great it is. All this to say that the new…
Waiting patiently for my vinyl copy to arrive!
Agreed. I've heard criticisms leveled at the band's supposed lack of sonic evolution (it's Teen Dream part two!) but I think Bloom IS an evolution. It has the best songs, the best production and Scally's guitar work has never been better. This is the one to beat in 2012.
Both songs sound good to me. They sound like the 90's, but they sound good.
Early favorites (in alphabetical order):
I'm with you on Jessica Dobson. Her backing vocals on "New Slang" added a whole new dimension to the song. And Joe Plummer is a much better drummer than Jesse Sandoval (although he had his charms).
I've actually heard this talked about in numerous places, especially on comment boards. Always something along the lines of, "this isn't The Shins, this is the new James Mercer solo record" or "this is The Shins in name only."
I agree that Pitchfork is more fun to discuss than it is to read. However, they gave Port of Morrow an 8.4. Which is the second highest rating behind Chutes Too Narrow. Backlash to the backlash?
Here we go again: continued my Mad Men marathon, saw 21 Jump Street (surprisingly funny), watched Young Adult on Blu-ray (I'm in the pro-Diablo Cody camp), torrented the most recent episode of Archer (was thrilled to discover Bryan Cranston cameoed), listened to the Bill Maher episode of WTF with Marc Maron and gave…
He was on Gilmore Girls? Funny. Reminds me of Britt Daniel's appearance on Veronica Mars (singing "Veronica" by Elvis Costello to boot).
"Australia" is great too.
