Wincing is great. "Sleeping Lessons," "Phantom Limb," "Turn On Me," even "Sea Legs" was awesome.

I think you're too focused on the controversy surrounding Mercer's retention of the Shins moniker. Why should he start from scratch when he already made that once-in-a-career breakthrough that even the most "indie" of bands would kill to have? What's wrong with wanting people to actually hear the music you've made?
My sedentary weekend: Wanderlust, Thank You For Smoking, the Portlandia finale, the latest episode of Eastbound & Down, John Carter, Saturday Night Live (the Jonah Hill and Lindsey Lohan episodes), Take Shelter and the first six episodes of Mad Men (trying to rewatch the whole series before the season premiere).
That would be Jessica Dobson of Deep Sea Diver.
Any thoughts on what the album title means? Maybe a reference to the whole "face on a milk carton" thing? You get kidnapped and suddenly you're "Milk Famous."
Yeah, I feel like the genesis of this album was the Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga track "The Ghost of You Lingers." This is a good thing.
For your consideration: The Monkey directed by Terrence Malick
All the roommates are talking shit on Krysten Ritter (Jane) and then Cranston says…
Well, a Fincher-helmed adaptation of Choke would certainly be better than the Clark Gregg version that was released in 2008. Definitely an instance where Fincher's visual flair would have greatly improved the film.
I remember borrowing Crash from the student archives at film school (on VHS) and watching it with my roommates. When the film was over, we rewound the tape and watched it again. We were disturbed but strangely fascinated by the audacity of the film.
That's probably the best example of all.
I didn't know where to post this (I figured on an article about another AMC show was as good a place as any). Did anyone see this promo for the new ABC sitcom starring Jane from Breaking Bad? Looks pretty generic except for a funny, and EXTREMELY spoiler-ish, BB reference at the end (don't watch if you haven't seen…
I enjoy a handful of Cranberries songs ("Dreams," "Linger," "Zombie," "When You're Gone"). The best thing I can say about Roses is that "Tomorrow" sounds exactly like their 90's output. So much so that I thought I already knew the damn song.
Maybe the title is a reference to the whole "face on a milk carton" thing. You get kidnapped and suddenly you're "Milk Famous."
Best British albums of 1997?
Great stuff. I hope the rest of the album is as energetic as this song. I enjoyed Songs in A&E but it was a little heavy at times (which makes sense, considering Pierce's health scare).
In all seriousness, I think Kurt Cobain would have killed himself earlier if he knew that the remnants of his band would go on to make the type of music currently being producing in Foo Fighters.
I'm loving the production on this record so far. Obviously, Mercer learned a lot from working with Danger Mouse. Some older fans may cringe at the idea of a slicker-sounding Shins, but I'm definitely excited by the prospect.
Me too.
Also, Phantom Limb is still great and I love the alternate version of Split Needles.
