I'm surprised you didn't mention "Tried to quit smoking" (possibly the song I enjoyed the most from this album) in your review. Nor did you connect the album to that "rockism is back" narrative that seemed to gain some momentum early this year, viz. "Open your heart" by The Men.

In a way, "The Monitor" was impossible (for anyone) to top. If you get passed that and take repetitiveness for what could be called their sonic identity, this one is a pretty enjoyable album.

I wonder why there's never been a good film about the true end of the Roman Empire, from 395 onward, not the period "The fall of the Roman Empire" was set in. Those last few years were quite eventful.

But then, you'd (needlessly) have to make "The book of judges" a trilogy, just like Peter Jackson did with "The Hobbit".
