Yeah, totally. There used to be this fucking awesome, cheap Afghan kebab shop in downtown-ish DC that would serve you grilled meat on the skewer, plus bread and a bunch of different little daily veg curries on the side. I never found anything like it ever again.
True, but dishes are prepared all sorts of ways and the more Indian food I eat the more it seems that nobody is too dogmatic about anything. Personally I do typically make it with tomato when I cook it at home, though not carrot. Cuz I love tomato + onion + spices. (OK, plus butter.)
