Wait, wait. I thought I, Frankenstein and Dracula Untold were supposed to be the kickoffs to this cinematic universe. Did they just scrap those two when they underperformed?

Was his speech the same one he gives at the end of Get in the Ring?

"The cat I'm watching in my housesitting clawed me for no good reason"

I'm on blackout as to what the show looks like. But yeah, they are amazing live and not something to miss.

The last time I saw U2 was 17 years ago, at the Summit right before it turned into that fucking Church. We were literally in the second to last row, and Bono had such charisma and presence that it felt like he was right in front of us. I haven't even seen a "big" concert since Radiohead, 10 years ago.

Yeah I read that book. Oh Jesus that was over 20 years ago. But it's my favorite book about them. They had like three books out at the time documenting the tour and this was one of the last. Ah, it was the University of Houston anyways.

Also, let's not gloss over that they got to get out of the tedious, hours long graduation ceremony and commencement address.

I've got the best judgment in the world. Believe me.

I remember thinking at the time "Boy you sure learned your lesson about appearing out of touch."

"Nope. No. No we didn't do that."

Or the entire Village People catalogue.

We had George HW Bush speak at our commencement. This was a couple years after he lost to Clinton. He was visibly bored and annoyed being there, checking his watch several times during his own speech.

But Tim Kaine got excited, so . . .

That is a glorious profanity.

It was a carnival/circus, so it was more wandering around the carnival grounds that upset them. I guess carnies AND circus folk together in one space is just asking for it.
