What would it take for Paul Verhoeven to make another sci-fi flick???
I'll pitch in twenty bucks right now…

Die Hard with a Vengeance is guilty of terrible CGI. Go back and re-watch McClane "surfing" on top of the truck. He's so blue he may be fucking Na'vi…
The gold standard for blonde 80's assholes???
I think Leigh McCloskey might have something to say about that…
Hey L.D
Still waiting on that sitcom where you and Ricky Gervais play mis-matched housemates. And make Leon your wacky neighbor while you're at it.
I'm quietly hoping that the movie will be halfway decent…
Yeah I quite enjoyed Shutter Island too, but when you think back about the film after the twist the entire premise is bat-shit crazy…
I'll be that guy… Pam Brady wrote Hamlet 2, Andrew "Dick" Fleming directed.
I concur with the above posts. Dastard, you're an asshole.
Yes Teodoust I am. Copland was good, Identity was wildly implausible but still fun and well made, and what the fuck was wrong with Heavy? Mangold ain't Scorsese (and in your list of supposed Mangold turds you left out the biggest one, Kate and Leopold) but I'd certainly argue that the man is no hack, and has it in him…
You should have bothered…
I'm no fan of The Cruiser, but you have to concede his choice of projects are generally pretty good, plus he always chooses to work with decent directors. The director of Knight and Day made Walk the Line and 3.10 to Yuma, whereas the director of Killers made Monster in Law and The Ugly Truth.
I'll give Knight and Day…
Bigger than Splitter Heirs? Moranis owns your ass!
Kuffs!
I do remember 16 year old Milla Jovovich dancing around in her panties in the films opening scene. I don't remember anything else.
Was the film even any good?
Agreed. I guess his defensiveness indicates that he wonders that himself…
Awful movie trailers…
You can usually suss out whether or not a movie is going to be shitty and avoid seeing it, but being subjected to shitty trailers before a (supposedly) good movie is inescapable. I remember seeing a trailer for fucking Bride Wars before Frost/Nixon. Seriously, way to know your target audience…
Stop pointing to all the negatives…
Point to some of the positives, like the Dolph Lundgren years.
For all the criticisms of late period Romero…
… at least he's not late period Lucas.
Zombieland had two good things going for it: Harrelson and Murray. Everything else about it was cliched pointless.
Wow and I just read about this film (for the first time) about five minutes ago…
Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian wrote how Sex and the City 2 dragged so much it made Santantango seem like an episode of Spongebob Squarepants by comparison. Now I get the joke. Thanks again, AV Club!
