Not a question of quality Lovecraft. I'm a pretty avowed Speed Racer fan (and hell I laughed more at Land of the Lost than I did at The Hangover), though I really don't expect any of the films I mentioned above to be anywhere near decent…

Yeah I was scrolling down looking for Diggstown, too! Damn though if Oliver Platt hasn't been in more than his fair share of awesome films. He seems like a genuinely likable guy and that was a great, great interview.
I think that Random Roles might just have overtaken My Year of Flops as my favorite AV Club column…

I thought New Traditionalists was pretty decent, if only because "Beautiful World" is a fucking awesome track…

He could be a fucking bartender for all we know!

Iron Man 2 definitely shows the signs of being a rushed production. It's fun, but man it could have been so much better…

My prediction for the Land of the Lost/Speed Racer-esque pricey flop of the summer…
It's got to be Robin Hood… and Jonah Hex.
Possibly Salt…

I fear The Bikini Shop mightn't be as good now as it was in 1984…

And directed by the director of The Muppet Movie…

And don't forget that hilarious crack smoking Willie Tanner from ALF as the lead nerd's Dad…

Well to be fair he said he's a swinging voter but he happens to be siding with Cameron at this election since Labor's been in for too long. I agree with him in that respect, but how could anyone bring themselves to vote Conservative?

Did they crop out Marlon Wayans, Anna Faris and the bong from that poster?

I thought Scream 2 had it's moments. The scene in the police car was quite tense, and I admit to getting a shock when **SPOILER FOR A 12 YEAR OLD FILM** Randy was killed.
Scream 3, however, was forgettable in every sense of the word, and managed to waste the usually awesome Lance Henriksen.

Juno although I don't think I'd have the stamina to keep up…

Was The Descent a fluke???
Dog Soldiers was complete arse. Doomsday was fun but forgettable. Might hold the verdict til Centurion comes out but so far Marshall hasn't come close to matching the talent and skill he displayed here…

The weird thing with The Descent was that while most of the peripheral characters weren't given much development, they displayed a resourcefulness that lifted them above the usual horror movie victim fodder and made me actually root for them.
I would agree this was one of the scariest films of the decade, along with

Yes but unlike Robocop and Total Recall, Starship Troopers was a flop on initial release.
As much as I like all three of Verhoeven's Sci Fi trilogy, I find Robocop and Straship Troopers more rewarding for repeat viewings. Total Recall, though a fun ride, isn't half as subversive…

As much as I'd like a Libertines reunion, I'd much rather see Pete Doherty beaten to death by thugs with cricket bats.

Maybe he's been taking it easy after his health scare a few years back? Besides his song in Extras was great!

I watched Lord of War for the first time the other night and thought it was decent but didn't quite reach it's ambition. There were moments though (like the opening sequence) that bordered on greatness…

John Carpenter
He's been in the wilderness for a long time (and his last few films sucked) but considering the vultures are already circling to remake damn near everything he's made (not to mention Halloween and Assault on Precinct 13 having already been remade), I'd love to see the man make one more amazing genre
