Can ZMF find time away from the academic circuit lecturing on "the fucking awesomeness of Crank: High Voltage in modern American cinema" to write a meaningful contribution??

Bernice, I've never met a hard core horror fan that didn't have a soft spot for at least the first two Evil Dead flicks. In fact, most likely those were the films that made them horror fans in the first place. So I thought it would be safe to assume that, for example, the $30 or so million worth of fans that went to

Yummsh, I love a good 'splosion heavy summer pic as much as the next guy, but I'd sooner have fucking teeth pulled than watch another Transformers movie.

J. Goo, as a rule of thumb most fanboy driven pics fall under the a or b category. If they're really any good, or I should say if they're good and have some broad appeal, they'll haul themselves to at least around the fifty percent mark…

I actually thought Raimi had enough goodwill from the hard core horror crowd to pull them in. I'll be honest, his name is the only reason I'm buying a ticket…

Yes 60%-plus drops are common these days, but they're still generally reserved for films that are either a) divisive, b) shit, or c) woefully mis-scheduled.

Yeah but now it's Michael Bay sequels and Tony Scott remakes. For non-Harry Potter fans it's gonna be a long wait til, um… Inglourious Basterds??

They've all got a certain charm, Erik.

@J. Goo-
I'd like to think my geek credentials are still solid, but I had no problems giving Wolverine a wide berth…

So… Drag Me to Hell grossed less than, say, Underworld???
I just don't get it. A fun, flashy horror flick from Sam freakin' Raimi and it can't even pull the horror crowd. Fuck. Fuck. And Fuck.

Highway 61, Twitch City, Hard Core Logo- all great examples of how talented and versatile McDonald is. Can't wait for Pontypool!! (Sadly, it will only be available in Australia via Region 1 DVD purchase some time in the future…).
Last Night- one of the most innovative interpretations of the apocalyptic genre ever.

I'm constantly amazed at Mark Wahlbergs ability to shine when in an ensemble movie like Huckabees, Departed, Boogie Nights, etc, but completely suck ass when the film rests on him…

Was very disappointed when I first saw this…
Especially that they recycled the montage song from South Park. Seemed so lazy to me. I had so much expectation I guess because the South Park movie was one of the best experiences I've ever had in a cinema. Having seen it a few times since however, Team America still

Never understood hostility many have towards BASEketball. It's not the second coming, but I always thought Matt and Trey did wonders with a script that, starring anyone else, would be forgettable crap. Without them (and Dian Bachar), that film dies…

Have you ever seen a man eat his own head???

Yeah some things are better not revisited. Watched Automan recently… man it sucked.
Wondering how another fave of my early years, Astroboy, will hold up to movie treatment later this year…

Children of Men…
I will personally bitch slap anyone who has a bad word to say about this movie.

It will complete my Bronson Pinchot collection real good like…

Drag Me to Hell is not the kind of film that would attract A+ ratings across the board, so I think the consistent B's (or their equivalent) is the best sign there is that it delivers on everything it promises.
Personally, I can't wait…

An interesting choice for Stephan Elliott…
I'm one of the twenty people who saw his Priscilla follow-up, Welcome to Woop Woop. And I suspect I'm the only one in that twenty who thought it was very, very funny. If you could imagine John Waters directing Nicholas Roeg's Walkabout, you're in the ballpark. Would love to
