That's the first song I thought of as well. "It was only a kiss. It was only a kiss…" Although, I think technically he's imagining it, not actually seeing it.

I've never seen Family, but I did recently rewatch McNichol in Little Darlings and woah…what a helluva young actress. There are definitely some similarities there between her and Danes.
I love that line…obviously.
I was basically the same age as the characters when the show originally aired, and I had a full-blown crush on Jordan just like Angela did. Re-watching it as an adult, I see what a total d-bag he was from the very beginning, but boy was he pretty…
That scene gets me every time. Chills just thinking about it. The movie was filmed while WWII was still happening, and I read somewhere that many of the actors in that scene were actual refugees from the war.
I don't read it as disdain. I think he goes for a certain kind of silly humor and is blunt about it. Like, let somebody else educate your kids. My job is to make them laugh.
I wasn't expecting this interview to be as hilarious as it is. Especially given his picture and the fact that I mostly relate him to the Fear Street books.
Yeah, Pinwheel was basically kiddie crack. I watched it for SIX HOURS A DAY EVERY SINGLE DAY, and I only learned it was on for six hours a day a few years ago. What the heck was my mom doing all that time?
That's the point! Those guys were my friends in high school. Except my friends were Adam Goldberg + closet homosexuality. I was definitely part of the smart kids clique who weren't quite at the bottom of the social totem pole, but who thought we were above everyone else. In hindsight, we were idiots too.
Agreed. His vocals are a major weak point in this album. The weird lilting affectations and slides are cringe-inducing. Ugh. Overall, though, I really liked the record - better than Zonoscope but not as much as In Ghost Colors.
Oooh…good one. That scene scares the crap out of me every time I watch it.
Wait @avclub-27d416f9dafaf0d621bfe869561f88ba:disqus …I always assumed Silverchair was a C.S. Lewis reference!
You're right. Austin is a lot more of a city than a college town (most people don't realize how big it is). I moved to Madison for grad school on the promise that Madison was very similar to Austin (state capital, big liberal state school) but I found that not to be true. Madison is much more of a college town…
I posted above but I'll post here again. I remember Tomorrow People and Chocky, which completely freaked me out…
I don't remember that one, but I do remember Tomorrow People and Chocky. They were on when I was pretty small, so I mainly remember them being creepy and clearly meant for the older kids. Just look at the intro for Chocky:

…holy bejeezus that is scary!!
I read Special Topics… when it came out, and I can remember almost nothing about it. I thought I would love it, but it fell totally flat for me, and reminded me of the all-too-clever teenage characters of Dawson's Creek and Juno. I'll wait on the new book.
I read somewhere that she lied to the producers and said she was older than she really was.
Congrats, Teti! I really miss your Project Runway recaps (it was the only reason I had to keep watching the show). I wish I played games so I could give a crap about the stuff you're writing now!
I just found that scene on youtube. I used to have the movie on VHS, but didn't remember that scene or Madsen being in the movie at all. Yeah, I don't blame her for not wanting to talk about it. The scene alone was probably totally humiliating.
I had the same thought! Why isn't he asking her about A League of their Own? Then I remembered it was Laurie Petty (?).
