Agreed that it's not really an episode of the X-Files.  It's more like a lighthearted April Fool's episode of the Rockford Files.  Something by Stephen Cannell, anyway.  I enjoyed it, though, and it looked like the cast was enjoying it as well.

Penny's mirror speech was a thing of beauty too.  Partly because anyone who's read Greek drama will recognize it as archeypical hubris.

True.  On some level it's natural to blame the one who's not family.

I liked her better on this than as Ben's dad's girlfriend on P&R.  That wasn't bad, but she has more pop in this.

Huh.  I hadn't realized Tarantino offered the part to Chris Tucker.  Moral misgivings or not, I wouldn't think he'd be in shape to turn down a lead role.

Your mileage will vary, of course.  For me "Hungry" works much better than "X-Cops."  For one thing the "Cops" gimmick dates that episode pretty badly, even if the idea of a monster that takes the form of whatever you fear is a good jumping-off point.  As for "Hungry" I find that it walks a difficult tightrope between

The Swarovski Crystal ad was the best rhing Vanessa's gotten to do all season, I thought.

The zombie thing, for someone who'd been following Millennium, really does just seem to come out of nowhere.  The thing is, when the Millennium Group became the villains for s3, it was also implied that the mystical elements were mostly smoke and mirrors.  They got stories about chemical weapons and brainhacking,

Properly speaking a minority can be vast, if the group of which it's a part is sufficiently large.  2% of the citizens of China would be a minority, but it's still pretty fucking big.

Also it confirms, if there's been any doubt, that Scully can still get a rise out of teenage boys.
