I like that her saying that actually does make everyone a little more solemn, if only for a few seconds.

The thumbnail for "Bardo Thodol" could be "In which nothing fucking happens."  And what little does happen doesn't happen for any reason.  The good news is that this is pretty much as bad as the show can get.  (Todd gave an F to "Loin Like a Hunting Flame", but that had a decently tight plot to balance out the

Yeah, my take on this episode is that it works exactly as well as it has a right to, which is not at all.  John Hawkes is a good enough actor to escape with his dignity intact, but he can't put a compelling story where there is none.  Which there isn't.  As to the way the episode treats Scully, I'm surprised Gillian

If I remember right the attempts to make Pinker Rawls sympathetic were helped by an act 4 revelation that made his ex and her husband seem like assholes.  It does fall a bit short of the tragic feel I'm guessing they wanted, though.

That's a very weird and unfriendly reaction, if true.  Of course one reason I was always disappointed that Millennium didn't do better was my general impression that Lance Henriksen and Megan Gallagher were nicer people IRL than David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.  Of course that's my own take and this could have

With the possible exception of "The Sound of Snow", "Saturn Dreaming of Mercury" is my favorite episode of the third season.  The odd shape of the plot and the cabinet of seeing glass eyes put it closer to outright surrealism than anything since the second season finale.  At heart, though, it can be boiled down thus:

X-Files couldn't seem to get a handle on werewolves.  "Shapes", which aired in the first season, was kind of a dud too.  By comparison they had better luck with vampires.  "3" wasn't a classic, but had some great guest performances.  "Bad Blood" actually is a classic, if an odd sort of one.

Upon seeing them I have to say I'd take my chance with stuff lying on the ground first.

So many people gay for John Mulaney.  I won't say they're wrong but I just don't get it.

I've only heard the Bayer/someone else pairing as a suggestion, so I figured Seth would still be behind the desk.  I can see your disappointment, though.  A new team would refresh WU.  Seth without Amy can be a slog.

"Intro to Puppetry" was my favorite as well.  At first I thought that Hader was just stealing Will Forte's Hamilton character, but where Hamilton is just a creepy racist, Hader took this one to all sorts of nutty places.
