A Single Blade of Grass
I liked this episode too. The scene where the coroner is shaking her ample stuff to the Squirrel Nut Zippers and he tries to sell her on Bobby Darin showed a new approach to the character. He's a little less "good husband and father" now, a little more "all around cool guy."
It was interesting to see him freak out over seeing his Over There counterpart dead and mutilated too. It's a response he hasn't allowed himself while "straight."
Cuddy's absence
I like Lisa Edelstein and was always sort of cool on Olivia Wilde, at least on this show. But Cuddy's not in this episode and Thirteen returns from her long (although it's much less than a year in real time) absence. Yet I enjoyed this ep more than the others of this season I've seen. Weird.
"Community" needs to have the kid who played Harold on as the teenage Ben Chang. He's got the attitude down perfect.
Joel Surnow
Not having actually heard Joel Surnow speak, I thought Fred's impression was pretty funny.
The McMartin case was definitely part of the inspiration for this episode, along with "The Bad Seed." Which means that it drove two of the best pieces of Morgan and Wong's writing: this and "Die Hand Die Verletzt" from the X-Files.
Smartypants McKnowitall,
Chandler actually seemed pretty happy with Janice during the arc when they were together. It seems to me that a lot of viewers didn't like Maggie Wheeler's approach to the character, specifically her voice, and wouldn't accept her as a semi-regular. But in story terms it could have worked.
@Ruddy Ruddy,
Are you saying Raj just needs to find himself a nice Trill?
I read that book and liked it. This episode was kind of an origin story for Munch too, as I don't see him doing all the tinfoil hat jokes if the Lone Gunmen had shown up on Homicide.
I loved the episode cutting to Langly's high-stakes D&D session. Sure it's a play on nerd stereotypes, but it's well-executed.
Frank Black
One interesting change in Millennium around this time is that Frank starts getting crabbier. There's a phone call in this episode between him and Peter Watts. Watts starts giving him Group boilerplate about how we have to make sacrifices to protect the things we love. In a voice dripping with sarcasm,…

Charlie
"In fact, I've come to enjoy the interplay between Lincoln and Charlie so much that I barely remember the "other" Charlie, who died on our world."
I loved when Ben and Tom reacted to the guest book entry for the couple that had spent a whole weekend gettin' freaky.
Oddly enough I didn't even realize this was a "serious" episode. It was different, but it was still so funny all the way through that I plan to Hulu it to catch jokes I missed the first time. And to refresh myself on Abed's litany of offbeat characters he resembles. (Yes, I called Data back in "Mixology")
@intangible fancy,
You're going to get abuse for posting that in this thread, and maybe you deserve it. But thank you for the good news.
Chris Carter
One little cavil with saying that Chris Carter was never the best writer on any of his shows. I've watched all nine completed episodes of Harsh Realm, and the four that Carter wrote were far and away the best. Only the one Frank Spotnitz wrote comes close. Carter keeps the tension in the story all the…
Bellivia was all kinds of funny tonight. You can see how it might rub Peter the wrong way, but as a viewer I loved it.
