I believe it is.

I have it on my list but just haven't sat down to watch it. Is Lipstick & Dynamite still on NF?

I saw a youtube doc' about Flair's WWF belt run, which ended w/ the Royal Rumble. It was great storytelling. I can't find it now, but it was basically just a supercut from the time Flair came in, to his eventual championship win, with some info title card inserts.

what makes wrestling so interesting is that ongoing live conversation it is always having about the level of script and improv, and how the fans are part of that dialogue in the live and larger fandom context. There is no other entertainment today that is like that.

Have any of you seen Card Subject to Change? It was on Netflix for a long time, but don't think it is now. A good look at DIY promotions, and down-&-out old timers. It is a mostly melancholy look at the small time side of things. Some sad ends to a couple the featured performers.

the nice thing is, that for the most part, the big things that came out of the attitude era tend to be the best, least offensive parts and talents. The worst stuff got repackaged for the better, such as Goldust.

very glad I missed the AE. I listen to a British Podcast about it, and while I get a lot of enjoyment from their dissention/review of it, I don't think I could stomach actually trying to watch it.

In 5 years, I'm hoping for a West Coast based league with a TV contract. PWG so I can finally see what they're all about, and a sister organization on the East Coast w/ Chikara (of course).
WWE will never die and I bet you're right in its evolution too.

aside: don't want to sound elitist about my wrestling fandom. I grew up on WWF during the Hogan era. Roddy Piper is still my favorite character. Now days I just don't have access to cable, so what I see are old matches on youtube, and stuff from Netflix.
While I don't see WWE, I hear enough about it to know the

this article: A positive attention for pro wresting? Or, a bad sign for the AV Club?
I hope for the former. Glad to see all the talk here, about what is going on now w/ WWE.
I don't watch the current product, but find wrestling's place in American history fascinating. There's so much weird, amazing, compelling

I was thinking the same thing.

wait, were you joking in the post above, or is this stuff you actually get from teachers? And if so: how? why?

It is definitely interesting, but pretty abstract. The story is told in scenes that are symbols, like 'stations of the cross' kind of.

I feel bad that I don't care about the Anglo stuff more. I have a lot of love for old comics, but even by the standards of 30s-50s material that aren't so much bad as just monumentally dull.

I think that is the thing I ordered, it is almost 300 pages.

The obvious guess is they'll do a very retro story set in the Anglo years, that hints at the greater world surrounding in retcon terms. Ima buy it!

McKeever (my bad). His early work is more accessible to men sloppier storytelling and full of youthful exuberance, but some of it follow a 'mega story', so it can be a commitment: "Eddy Current" & the "Metropol" stories, I think Transit (his 1st work) also ties into that somehow I can't recall.
I think "Industrial

I've got everything up to a point, I don't know where I lost track, so once the Gaiman issues start I'm going to flip thru 'em and figure out where to start again. Marvel is printing a couple new stories for New Years Day release too, a lost Morrison story (just illustrated by Quesada) and … something else by

I read Wayward, which is exactly as it was billed, "Buffy in Japan".
The first issue of Morrison's ANNIHILATOR which is off to an okay start—feels like he is having trouble shaking off the superhero comic chains tho.
And Superannuated Man by Ted McKeever #3, I really don't understand his work lately but I just really

I just ordered the annotations book from the Top Shelf sale, FOR A BUCK! Even if I glance at it, it'll be worth it. I like Campbell's art a lot, so I'm looking forward to that. Tho, I just found From Hell soul wrenching on so many levels. I mean, I didn't expect it to not be, but there's more than enough misery to
