You seem not fun. If you're capable of not taking SW too seriously, consider this: Obi Wan is a shitty teacher - the only pupil he trained for more than a day ended up becoming Darth Vader. He admits it himself! He says he thought he could be as good a teacher as Yoda and that he was wrong in that belief. He blames

Oh, hello, friend. Let me just say I love Star Wars. Love it. Huge fan. It's a great story and it's super exciting and it's a huge part of my life. I'm totally fine with the fact that Luke is unrealistic wish fulfillment - that's what I want out of a space adventure! I'm just pointing out that SW is no better or worse

So, Qweef Latina - is that a stupid name, or?

Luke's help from Obi Wan in Star Wars consists of being told "Stretch out with your feelings" and "Act on instinct."

Please detail for me Luke's struggles (aside from getting shot in the butt by a remote).

I tried to stick with KHUx but I feel overwhelmed by all the choices regarding medals and character customization and so on. It doesn't feel casual enough to play on my phone.

There's also the fact that Iron Man 3 (written by Black) hits the same notes as LW (Tony is feeling depressed about his near death experiences, the movie takes place around Christmas, and the scene with Downey and Cheadle sneaking around the construction site and bantering is straight out of a LW script).

I think, unfortunately, that this wasn't so unusual back in the 80s (see: Monster Squad). Honestly, the line about it being "disgusting" that two women were in bed together is more jarring for me because it's so front and center (you can almost lose the "are you a f-g" line in the sound mix) and Gibson puts such venom

You're right about The Mist being a novella, but that's not in my list (and I've never seen it). The Green Mile was published serially, but it's a novel - are you suggesting that Dickens' works are not novels? And I'm just working off Whovian's premise, which specified novels. I agree that (in general, not just King)

I feel like that picture would turn a boy into a man.

I've actually never seen it, but apparently it got really good reviews. You and battybrain are going to have to fight it out for the fifth slot!

Stand By Me is based on a novella, not a novel. It is a TV movie, so I don't feel like it counts (also the second half is uneven and the spider is laughable, although the first half is fucking terrifying). Salem's Lot would bring it to five.

Carrie, The Shining, Misery, The Green Mile…math checks out!

It's funny, because the idea of the app that syncs automatically was actually super compelling to me. In general, my group that used to listen to these stayed away from the audio tracks because they were annoying to sync (so we'd find torrents with the track overlaid and just donate the cost of the riff to Rifftrax).

RetroTV also runs a handful of episodes in rotation.

How are Star Trek nerds just OK with this? Also, "Battle of Veridian III" is hilariously overblown given that it was two old men teaming up to punch another old man, and Starfleet's god damn flagship losing to literally one Klingon Bird of Prey. Fuck, Generations is such a piece of garbage.

I was mad that you didn't list his date of death (like I have any idea what it is), but they don't even list it on Memory Alpha. Fuck you, Rick Berman!

After seeing it this weekend, I felt like it was loyal to the book but unengaging and forgettable. I read the AV Club review this morning and it was pretty spot on. Also, they gave it a C+ and it's 71% fresh. Seems reasonable?

I found the Queen scene to be distracting. It was totally faithful to the book, but the book feels like it can't cope with finding a real world solution to a fantasy world solution. My daughter seemed to enjoy it, though.

I mostly agree with this, although there are elements of season two that I kind of liked (Abbie in purgatory, the haunted house with the vine monster or whatever that was).
