Pop culture highlight of the weekend: Ben Harper at the Hollywood Bowl. He was very present, almost on a spiritual level, and seemed genuinely happy to be on stage. Took us through an emotional roller coaster, starting with a "Another lonely day" (the irony wasn't lost on the audience) and ending with "Burn one down"

Saturday, Double header Snow White - Prometheus.
Snow White was quite boring and predictable, and I couldn't get over the perma constipated-looking Kristen Stewart. Some beautiful imagery though, with the Dark Forrest and the World of fairies. Loved the magic mushrooms! Also, anyone else got the reference on the world

Kristen Stewart doesn't have much range, she essentially gives one look: constipated.
I feel sorry for the kid, she must be in pain. If acting classes can't solve this, Miralax will.

"Valley of the dolls" isn't so bad it's almost good. It's just bad.
One cliche after another, inept dialogues, interchangeable male actors (they all look like Rick Perry), faux titillating sequences… I did laugh a few times at some of the soap operas tropes and the squareness of it all, but ultimately it's

What can of swag can we expect to win?
Bow and arrows?
eye patch?
tomato sauce?

A big part of this movie's charm comes from Omar Sy's "Bons mots". There are many and his delivery is impeccable. I was ready to dislike this movie for many PC reasons but found myself laughing a lot and caring for the characters I wonder how much got lost in translation to warrant such a negative review.

The ringleader put his clothes on a dead man to pretend he was dead and he sold out his partners and escaped with the help of the general as they were in cahoot from the get. At least that what I understood

And still one of the best albums to put on repeat while traveling to the Catskills… just sayin'

Saw Faithless live in concert in Amsterdam back in 94 or 95 and it was a fantastic show, especially for someone like me with a background of mostly indie rock… A gateway to some mind altering substances and mind blowing musical experiences.

So the East Coast got a cameo from Paul McCartney and the West Coast from Kim Kardashian?
I wish they'd combine both in an episode of "Keeping up with the Beatles" or a rendition of "Yellow sub-Armenian".

"It's just me face"

I really like the moment when Frank - the stockbroker, tells Jacob that he believes Monty deserves his fate as he was making a profit from other people's misery. Pretty ironic coming from a character whom we saw earlier in the movie betting $100m of his firm's money on US unemployment numbers.

Highlight of the weekend: Dancing to Deep House legend Chez Damier & electro wizz kid Joakim at Club Rhonda in LA

That Shoes video with Jake Gyllenhaal is very juvenile. Or is it that I'm too old?

Friday night watched "Suddenly, last summer" for the first time. I usually have problems with how melodramatic Tennessee Williams writing can be, and this movie is no exception. But the story is so messed up that it held my attention until the end. The first scene with Katharine Hepburn (what an entrance!) lasts about

I find racial humor to be a crutch for writers who lack imagination. It's cheap.
Me thinking that if you use racial jokes, me won't love you long time.
