I remember a while back some of my academic friends were staying at a hotel for a conference that was also hosting a furry convention.

Even more baffling than "I don't sew."

I wonder if she'd be more appreciated in Brooklyn, from what I've seen of the scene there (although that's really all based on what I see here). She's got incredible makeup technique and a strange/arty aesthetic that seems like it would fit in with that group.

I also think that Lin is an underrated director, especially for these types of movies- there are very few who can actually handle the combination of ensemble character work and big action setpieces like he can. It's not easy just because the movies are dumb.

I love Jason Statham, and I am fine with "villain-turned-almost-hero," but he murdered Han!

And here I thought Sriracha was boringly mainstream now.

Yeah, but if you're watching it at 17 instead of 7 (and you hadn't seen it at 7) they were silly in a way that wasn't enjoyable.

I didn't see it as a child for whatever reason, even though my mom liked Bowie, so I watched it as a near-adult Bowie fan and wasn't all that impressed. The songs were silly.

I know a young child (3-4) named Isis. I feel bad for her and her dad.

Do you often contemplate the complexity of life?

He murdered Han! How the hell do they respect and work with that murdered Han?!?!

It is incredibly dumb and probably not objectively all that great, but it's also a lot of fun to watch.

7 is far from the best one. It's certainly not a bad film, but compared to 5 (or even 6) it's overstuffed and overly complicated. Also, it doesn't have Han.

One kid seems to love the Speedo man.

I always assumed that because his friend had the Philosopher/Sorcerer's Stone, so you know, magic or something whatever.

So when does Han come back from the dead to save the series? Because it really does seem like the ones without Han just aren't as good.

Yes, but who isn't one of those at this point?

Jude Law and Colin Farrell would have been better.

Hell, he sold "fat guy gets the pretty girl" which is normally an incredibly annoying trope.

Ugh, agreed. Colin Farrell was very enjoyable and realizing that the villain is actually going to be Johnny Depp in a stupid wig and contacts was disappointing.
