First, he was doing that on purpose to point out that she lacked intelligence…"or is it Five?" Sen. Davis knew the answer and was setting her up.

I had a hard time understanding that dude in Deadwood when he played Tim Driscoll, too.

I read all of those explanations in the voice of Dennis Hastert.

You come at the King, you best not miss.

I really liked that moment when Mike took control of the situation with Dana. He's a featherweight, and I'm certain it was some backshadowing on Mike's war capacity as a commander, but when he yelled, "YOU DO NOT TALK TO ME THAT WAY" held resonance. Dana hadn't heard that from anybody in a long time and I think she

The sequence of Fats singing 'Blueberry Hill' and Davis realizing it was over cutting to the girl explaining to Batiste that she could get along just fine, for me was heartbreaking.

There was a crushing amount of subtext involved in the Washington Monument scene, almost blaring.  The scene was shot in reflection, which I agree was fantastic, but also reflected perfectly the adults who are responsible for the kids.  The values of the parents are manifesting themselves in a new generation.

In an episode rolling over with Brody-story implausibility, the absence of a scene where Dana and Xander both laughed hysterically/sheepishly/embarrassingly/shamefully about bursting in and interrupting that was almost as glaring as the pup tent.

All in the game, yo

Brains don't beat.  And if they did, why would we have reason to hate the Black Eyed Peas?

One of those details I'm having a hard time accepting is that Ace/Gus's horse is running on dirt.  If he's an older horse and not on the triple crown trail, and they paid $2MM for him out of Ireland, then it's more likely the horse only runs on grass.

That's Chantal Sutherland.  She's a full-time real-life jock at Santa Anita.  I don't know if she still rides at Woodbine when SA is dark, but she's one of the top Canadian jockeys at that meet every year.  She holds her own in Southern California.

I'm glad you mentioned the railbirds noticing Wakin' Up's workout.  Jerry in particular noticed something special about that workout after he'd handed his pick 6 ticket to Marcus.

It's especially noticeable for the Breeder's Cup when many Euro horses come to the States to run.  A majority - if not all - of them get Lasix because it's legal in the US
