I agree but it's tough comparing apples and oranges. IMHO the Wire and Hill Street Blues are its only peers. GoT, Mad Men, the first three years of the new Battlestar, Homicide, and the Sopranos also come to mind.

Don't think this is a getting a third season for two reasons. 1, lousy ratings, and 2, once AMC realizes their stubborn grandstand against the Dish and Direct TV (to raise rates for AMC) did not work, they'll have to crawl back to the big satellite providers and cut funding.
