Where the fuck did you get a complete set of The Human Comedy, you lucky mother fucker?

"You must be a conservative shithead"
In a more straightforward way then, I don't think it's a responsibility for them to be mindful of in their artwork. I will fully own up to that.
It's also completely not an artists responsibility to be mindful of it in the slightest.
Yeah, nah, sorry, the amount of white males you have in your art has no bearing on it's quality. The quality of the art has no relation to how diverse your characters are. A book doesn't become unoriginal because of what colour the characters skins are.
There's nothing inherently wrong with having predominantly white, male characters in your work, even if it were that many, and the quality of the artwork is the primary thing to worry about as an author. If an individual wants to add various different characters of different race/sexual orientation/etc, then great,…
He's unlikely to make an awesome movie because he's an average filmmaker, but yes, his main focus should be on the film, not achieving social goals. He has absolutely no responsibility to greater gender representation and I can only hope when the film is released, people actually have something of value to say about…
…Yes, the only art I like is the art that personally represents my personal experience and relates to me, I'm also completely and utterly incapable of appreciating anything outside of my own narrow world-view and experiences and I struggle to appreciate anything beyond it's surface level. It's a shame, I really hate…
Or you know…just focus on writing a good novel. The amount of female characters you have, the amount of male characters you have, the amount of black, white, native american, east asian, south american or middle eastern characters you have, the amount of homosexual, bisexual, transexual, the amount of disabled,…
Good news. It's an enjoyable show!
Exactly the sort of speech that would appeal to youthful graduating folk who think this sort of thing is insightful and enlightening. Nice words and all, but golly, pretty hollow and trite.
And to add to that, as I pre-empt a 'why don't you just read those other sites that did mention it then' response, I read widely about art and pop-culture and from differing perspectives and different sites as it's a good way to gain different perspectives and ideas about the works in general, and on top of that, the…
Yeaaaaaaaah, never said it was shameful, only disappointing. I don't particularly care if it's annual, but being his 450th, it would have been a perfect number to create an article about, maybe something like "In honour of Shakespeare's Birthday, we choose our favourite Shakespeare adaptations" or you know, something…
Considering the site has a 'book section' and has no problem discussing classic works of film, then a discussion about the classic works of one of the central writers in world literature, a writer whose works have been adapted time and time again in film, tv, etc, and whose influence is all over pop-culture…well then…
Films I watched:
Fairly off-topic, but also sort of not: I was quite disappointed that the AV club made no mention of Shakespeare's birthday (unless I missed it), would have been a great chance to have a chat about people's favourite works or productions or adaptations or so on.
But hey, there's time for countless articles based…
Fair point, but it's more in the sense of fellow cinema lovers I know. They'll wax lyrical about Se7en and Zodiac and so on (and fair enough too) but SotL always tends to be forgotten in such conversations. Or maybe I've just been having/watching/reading the wrong conversations. Either way, it's great.
I'll take this opportunity to say how much I fucking love The Silence of the Lambs. It's pretty much a perfect thriller and just a downright fantastic movie. I still feel it's somewhat underrated and doesn't quite get it's full due. But it's brilliant!
There are many, many better writers out there than DFW. Maybe it's just that?
The one thing that was confirmed to me by this article, was that GRRM is really quite a poor writer of prose.
