Is it because it's juvenile and poorly written?

You wanna talk your girlfriend out of watching a show she personally enjoys because it goes against your personal world view? Wow, you're a dick.
And your 'this show isn't my politics therefore it's bad' criticism is lazy.

Hopefully it's better than the poorly written and vastly overrated 'Silver Linings Playbook'. It should be, from what I've heard.

Can someone explain why I'm meant to find Key and Peele funny? I just don't get it.

It is pure drivel. But that has nothing to do with it's 'privilege', which is a weak and irrelevant criticism of the art form of film.

But then I've heard he's an awesome guy who goes out of his way to immerse himself in all aspects of production and with all of the staff involved.

Oh jesus, you're one of those. You're complete and utter over-romanticisation of art and pretentious nonsense is so common around these parts that I'm sick of arguing it. I'll try to keep it short.

I'm well aware of the reasons why they'd choose such actors. It was clearly a personal statement on the lack of quality acting-wise in their choices, which there is. Kunis and Tatum are average.

It was such a corny, over-wrought, in your face moment. Killed any catharsis that I should've felt in the scene.

Agreed. Don't see why it's so praise-worthy. I get the feeling some people are quick to overrate certain shows because we've lacked a lot of standout classic TV since 2007, with a couple exceptions.

"It's masterfully acted, artfully designed, gorgeously filmed, brilliantly staged, sensitively edited, and evocatively scored"

Don't really take these sort of things too seriously, but I was happy to see 'Girls' wasn't on the TV list, which would have been totally underserving.

It would have been nice if they could've got an actor that wasn't stiff as fucking cardboard. Hell, Keanu Reeves has more charisma and range than Tatum.
And Kunis, really? Again, this is the best they could do?

I'm genuinely stunned that any one could consider Crystal Skull as 'great'. A thoroughly poor film that offers very little artistically to the medium. The writing is lazy and lacks the tightness, wit and humour in the dialogue, the over-reliance on CGI is disturbing, the script is abundantly full of sheer stupidity (I

yeah, I was pretty saddened by that as well. Deakins is still one of the most talented DP's working today, but I would like to see him work on another great film relatively soon, otherwise I get this horrible feeling I may not see it happen again.

1. A Serious Man
2. No Country for Old Man
3. Fargo

A pretty poor show probably, but I'm happy to see Richards get work. I was touched by his Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee episode, where the remorse was so clear. People make horrible mistakes, but it isn't necessarily the sum part of their person. Good luck to the fellow.

I used to love this film as a kid, and up to my teens. Imagine my disappointment when I re-watched it last year. I just don't dig Burton. The quirky-whackiness is just so completely over the top that I hardly feel any other tone in the film, it's so blinding. I don't think he really has a great feel for character,

There is so much great stuff film/tv wise that you could do with Biblical narrative. It is after all one of the foundational texts of literature in European culture. It's a shame no one has really got it right or done it justice, especially in this particular age of TV.

- Finally got around to watching "Psycho". One of the bigger gaps in my movie-watching life, especially for a film-lover. Such a magnificent film though. Anthony Perkins knocks that role out of the park, but most impressive is the directing. Wonderfully shot and crafted, especially on a low budget. As immersed as the
