Speaking of Jack Black, the bit where Will Forte plays a younger version of him bombing at a spelling bee always cracks me up.  It's one of those gags where the joke is that it goes on for way too long (which has been done ad-nauseam), but it works because Forte is just so committed to staying in character.

Oh god I used to love that sketch.  I still say "grenator" from time to time just because it's such a silly word.

Wow I almost forgot how underwhelming last year's BP nominees were.  This year has to be better just by default.

I agree that the picture was flawed in places.  There was definitely noticeable blurring and pixelization in certain scenes, but most of the time it looked really good.  The sound was amazing though.  I'm glad I saw it just for all the little bits of mumbled dialogue and background noise that I missed from viewing it

Agreed, especially on the part about Jennifer Connelly.  She honestly looks like a better pin-up model in this movie than any actual pin-up model from that same era (with the possible exception of Rita Hayworth).  I mean she's just…WOW.

Yeah I heard that too and wondered how many AV Club commenters work for NPR (at least one I suspect).

Always loved her cover of Straight To Hell:

I think what's brilliant about this film and what makes it so timeless is that everytime you watch it you come out with a slightly different take on what actually happened.  Maybe it's just the cynicism that comes with getting older, but while I used to always side with the dissenting viewpoint of Henry Fonda's juror

None of these seem all that surprising, really.  Prometheus is a prequel to a well-established series that appeared to be destined for a sequel from the get-go based on its ending and loose plot threads, the American Pie quadrilogy is already an established series that performed decently at the box office and

I really liked the film overall because of its themes and satisfying conclusion and what not as well, but there were two big things that really bothered me that (from what I've seen) not many people have mentioned thus far, both concerning the bomb:
