Beer Wars
is a documentary that came out in 2009. It features a few craft breweries, but focused on DogFishHead and another less successful brewery. It was interesting because we knew DFH was successful but had never heard of the other brewery so they made good foils.
For IPA's, Bell's Two Hearted Ale. The one that is close is Huma-Lupa-Licious from Shorts. Anything from Shorts is good, but stay away from their Soft Parade in bottles.
Kids in Philly is a good album, but Steve Earle wasn't involved. They produced it themselves. I don't think Steve Earle plays well w/ others who have an ego close to his own (e.g. Lucinda Williams).

I can see the Virginian being a little more novelty than the rest of her catalog. But Furnace Room Lullaby began a style that Neko kept developing.
