Not a great episode, but the scene where he unleashes the hidden power of spaghetti bolognese by turning it into a bar, eats it and then immediately picks up the phone and says "Hello, hospital?" is a great one.

Seconded, that episode was the beginning of the end for me with this show… though I didn't check out for good until the clipshow.
I feel sorry for you. It's absolutely nothing like my life, given that I'm making loads of money from computers and all.
Complete with head-wiggle. There's no other way!
The fact that it was almost word-for-word the original pilot with a few changes (he referred to Jan as 'Hilary Rodham Clinton', not 'Camilla Parker Bowles' etc…) stopped me from watching it for a few years and still prevents many of my friends from even giving it a shot. It's amazing that the show pulled off the…
oh man that kiss and subsequent scene at the end of Casino Night is up there in terms of all-time heart-breaking TV moments, topping even the "She said no," scene from the original.
If only Tame Iti (http://www.odt.co.nz/files/… ) could act, huh?
Oh dear I hate myself for laughing at that.
The problem many Maori actors have (cf. Rena Owen and Temuera Morrison of Once Were Warriors acclaim) is that they can't do a convincing American/anything other than a Kiwi accent.
Yeah I'd say take your time on the first pass and then read it again directly after - it took me 6 months on the first read and about a week in the second applying that method.
Vineland isn't terrible. Are you sure you read the Pynchon book?
Na it's extremely easy to read, as @avclub-6a07c2cd3a15b9a294e4a8bce65e472a:disqus says, it's very Raymond Chandler… or like Raymond Chandler telling you a story at the end of a speed binge.
That extra long phone number jingle is a gag Linehan recycled from Father Ted but I'll be damned if it doesn't make me laugh every time I think of it.
I use that Moss quote anytime I talk about something that is self-conciously 'transgressive' cf. Brett Easton Ellis, Harmony Korine etc…
I want to watch cricket with you, Archmage… what are you up to during the NZ - England series?
If you want to spend the better part of 2 hours crying, then definitely watch it… I thought it was fantastic though too.
Broke up with my first girlfriend in 2001, saw In the Aeroplane… at a record store and bought it based on the cover, proceeded to listen to nothing else for the next month or so.
@avclub-bca3531762af8a993c4f60c48fd5e33b:disqus as a resident of Melbourne, I am going to do the best I can to add 'lifty' to the lexicon.
MELBOURNE BITCHES!!!
Your standards are off the charts if Linda Cardellini qualifies as 'dowdy'.
