I don't know if she was homeless but when I lived in Japan there was an elderly woman who would shit on the pavement outside our house (it wasn't a proper street, just a warren of footpaths). I saw her do it once, my flatmates other times. We were too polite to say anything, she too into it to stop.

I'm scared I may have woken up some of my housemates with my hysterical giggling at that anecdote.

Oh wow yes on Two Cathedrals, such an amazing episode. OHMSS is not awful, and in the scheme of Bond films might even make the top 50% for me, definitely over many of Moore's, the second Dalton and the last two of Brosnan's.

With you on The Avengers, it was a competent but over-long and over-stuffed CGI-reliant blockbuster.

Thankfully it's not a country that I needed a visa for but I watched my savings dwindle away to nothing and had almost forgotten the sinking, horrible depression that comes with watching money trickle away without being replenished. Can start concentrating on enjoying myself now!

Except for the unemployment and breaking my leg less than a week after arriving, I'm loving it! That may sound slightly sarcastic but really isn't, I'm living in the same city as several of my best friends for the first time since I finished university in the mid-00s and am looking forward to making the most of it as

Oh wow I had forgotten all about the new XCOM. Can't wait, even bought the original from Steam a few months ago, only to discover I was still both as in love and as useless at it as I was in the mid 90s.

The tables are read out, with a woman's voice announcing titles and headers. Not the same effect but having Jonathon Coulton (including theme songs!) on both audiobooks, the political attack ads on the first and the Paul Rudd presence on both more than make up for it.

Yeah, 2 months is far too long to go without… it's going to feel good to go from being part of the lousy 47% back to the responsible, glorious 53%.

Was too broke to go out to celebrate getting a job after two months of unemployment in a foreign country so I stayed at home and consumed a lot of pop culture…

I feel so sorry for Carter, essentially the only genuinely progressive president of the latter half of the 20th century and a man who has dedicated his life after the presidency to making the world a better place but to almost everyone in the Western world born after he left office, he's just history's greatest
