Hi-oooooh!!!
Hi-oooooh!!!
When bassoon is in the punchline, I'm going to laugh. Don't get me wrong, I don't like Wye Oak, I just love bassoons.
Me too. And I feel I had the exact same experience as you. Things clicked on Tiger Peasant Mountain song. I have faith that will happen with Helplessness Blues too.
How do you explain Drake then! He mopes it up with the best of them. He also has a golden owl, we should all be so lucky.
I wish I could like this more than once.
Hey, I'm a pretty huge snob, but I loves me some dance/pop music. It's just that I don't think Femme Fatale is the best representative of this year in dance/pop. Others have already mentioned Cut Copy, Justice, Robyn, etc, etc. I mean, this isn't even the best Britney album… I totally understand people digging on…
I'm an ol timer too, but this list is in no way obscure. It's boring as all get out, but it's not obscure.
In a thread full of list upon endless similar list, I want to thank you. Best list on the site.
Gotta agree with @avclub-2b9f7ef87521b52f6f11a4f3b3f71366:disqus . I was surprised at first, but I preferred the Grey Album to the Black Album.
Yerp. I liked Fishscale better, but any year with a Ghostface album can't be that bad of a year for rap.
Can't seem to reply individually, so maybe this will work.
He's got a verse on Big Boi's last album that made me think he has a lot more potential than that stuff he was slinging on "Airplanes".
I don't really see the humour. Drake was raised in a upper-middle class suburb of Toronto. All of the "indie loving emo kids" have just as much "street cred" as Drake. Possibly more.
Agreed on the individual lists. Looking at them, everything seems to make sense. Diverse reviewers like diverse music. But the synthesis has left much be desired. Artists that people can generally agree on and throw in their own list at 8 or 7 or 5 (like Drake, although he still wouldn't be on my list) get on the…
Mindkilla is amazing. Just thinking of it gets it stuck in my head.
Girls will be number 1 over at Pitchfork or I'll eat my hat. And for that alone, it will be a better list than this one.
Agreed. I'm constantly amazed at the variety of creative descriptions reviewers use to make "boring" sound hip and interesting.
It's a great album, M83's best and closest to the true form of M83. Shocked it isn't here.
Yes! Agree, it might not be one of the best records of the year (although its much better than about half of this list), but its one of Sloan's best albums in awhile for sure. And I loves me some Sloan.
Can't it be a tie?
