I don't think Kenny Powers has left behind the myth of "Kenny Powers." Why would he fake his own death if he was now fine being a normal person? Everything he does is large, grand, loud, and misguided no matter how kind the sentiment.

While I find the show hilarious pretty much whenever it is attempting to make you laugh, I honestly love it and respect most for how dark and dramatic and truly affecting it can get and is WILLING to get. I didn't mind that the second half was more dark and disturbing than funny. I don't think it was supposed to be funny. I'll agree Will Ferrell may have overstayed his welcome… but I sort of liked the whole cannon thing. It seemed suitably hedonistic and dumb and sort of menacing at the same time.

I am generally averse to guest stars being "themselves" on shows. I feel like it sucks the air out of the show and brings a lot of the back-and-forth the character's usually have to a halt. I didn't mind Burt Reynolds that much, but I still can't get totally behind this sort of guest star stuff.
