Incendies was fantastic, and that film alone makes me want to see this.

Definitely not. I believe the movie stands on its own, though the echoing of Macao is nice to catch if you're familiar with it.

I saw this earlier this year in Chicago and it is the best film of the year, period. Glad it's getting a (probably really, really) limited release.
