I think the two of us must be reading different AV Clubs, Silvio. Seems like there's still plenty of FirebolAIDS to go around for firstie posters.

Hmm. I've heard of Ghost Story (from Danse Macabre, and other places) but never got around to locating a copy to read. Perhaps I'll have to go to the library.

So, he's rewriting The Midwich Cuckoos? Color me dubious.

I take away points for a comment he made (I think in On Writing) about how people kept tagging him on the fact that John Coffey had the same initials as Jesus, and his response was "C'mon, folks, it's not exactly rocket science."

Come wit de Rat Man, dearie, and he show you the nine thousand names of God.

I enjoyed Duma Key. And hated Lisey's Story. The latter fits nicely on the upper end of the graph XKCD came up with, where the number of made-up words in the book is correlated to how crappy the book is.

The Dead Zone was excellent. My favorite bit of the novel was the tabloid reporter showing up at Johnny's house to offer him a column as a fortune-teller, and Johnny throwing him helluva far.

Sign on another who loved Cell. Picked it up randomly at a used bookstore, read it when I got home, and thought "King does remember how to write a horror novel! How about that? Retiring may have been the best thing that ever happened to him."

The White Stripes do a lot of really incredible blues-rock songs. Their whole discography is worth listening to.

Happen to remember which book title was being discussed?

Yeah, it was also in Skeleton Crew. "Word Processor of the Gods."

Agreed, Peachfuzz. The movie and novel are both incredible examples of the genre, and they both have their flaws.

I actually rather liked The Breathing Method (the novella out of Different Seasons about the decapitated woman going into labor). I especially enjoyed the frame setting of the story, the strange men's club in Manhattan where people gather to tell stories. It also appears in Skeleton Crew, in "The Man Who Would Not

I'm not sure I would confidently recommend anyone going past Wizard & Glass. Wolves of the Calla, while not completely terrible, still has as its climax (spoilers, in case you forgot we're in Spoilertown) a horde of robots in Dr. Doom outifts killing people with lightsabers and deadly sneetches. There are

It wouldn't hurt so much if anyone had noticed that there was an I in my name.

But the oaks can't help their feelings, if they like the way they're made.

Bring me my monocle!

Whoa, part of this thread became terrifyingly meta. Today I learned that it's unpopular to say that it's unpopular to say that you aren't allowed to say something bad about what someone else said.

Well, entertaining in its futility, because Metallica was essentially waging war on the internet. Talk about tilting at windmills. It probably wasn't entertaining to those poor mofos getting sued and whatnot.
