It's come up before, when it first happened I took it as Kristen being friendly and Stefan reading too much into it and being creepy.

Um the new girl has a shovel, let's call it a draw.  I don't really understand how as a member of a group wandering for a number of months, the most lethal weapon she comes upon is a shovel.
