I'm sure most of the folks posting here may have had a similar experience but I remember being in a bar in lower Manhattan one night in '95 and witnessing the entire bar sing along to "Wonderwall" when it came on the jukebox. I'll never forget it.

Aside from her sincerity coming across as plastic and rehearsed—and being a bit too musical theatre—she's just another Hollywood starlet, so I don't get the hate. Also, she's highly doable.

While Achtung was a great step forward, the irony-drenched vibe of the other two U2 albums of the '90s—most especially the tours supporting them—alienated a chunk of their fanbase. Not to the point of abandonment but…
